Healthy Tips Archives

Remember how I told you I would let you know if any other positive changes occurred as a result of my eating healthier to control my anxiety?

Well, I have now discovered relief for my acid reflux.

I have had acid reflux for about 15 years. I have been taking Zantac once and sometimes twice a day to contol my reflux. However, I’ve noticed that in the past three months I’ve  rarely experienced any acid reflux.

In examining the question, “What was I doing different that would result in the reduction of my reflux?” I figured it out. It is the ginger and cinnamon in the pancakes that I have been eating every morning for the past four months.

If you read my article on hair growth, you’ll see how these pancakes also helped me with my hair, skin and nails.

I started eating these pancakes because I had to make gluten free pancakes for my son every morning before he went to school. Since I had my son’s left over pancake batter, it was easy to just add healthy ingredients to the batter to make my breakfast.

This is how I make my pancakes:

  • 1 Cup Bisquick Gluten-free Pancake Mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup coconut or almond milk
  • 2 teaspoons ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon flax seed
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower seeds
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Maca Powder
  • 1 tablespoon cranberries or blueberries
  • Add walnuts or pecans if you want to make it really yummy!
  • Heat your griddle and use virgin coconut oil

The batter will be really thick, just use a spoon to spread it out. Brown on one side then flip the pancake over and brown the other side.

Serve with Organic Aguave Syrup

Another great thing about these pancakes is that they will fill you up quick! You probably won’t even be hungry for lunch. I usually don’t get hungry again until around 4:00 in the afternoon.

Oh yea! Did I mention, they will cleanse you too? If you have a problem with constipation, these pancakes will definitely solve your problem.

In conclusion, if you have acid reflux or consitipation, give these pancakes a try. They have definitely helped me and I feel certain they will help you too.

P.S. I think the fact that I have cut down on caffeine has also contributed to my reduction in acid reflux. Read my my article on Caffeine and Anxiety for more information .

Hair Growth Tips

I was blow drying my hair when I noticed it was gone.  ” Where is it? Where did it go?” I shouted.

“Tim, what happened to my bald spot and why is my hair suddenly thicker? What’s up with my nails – they don’t break anymore?” I exclaimed.

You see, Tim, my husband, is the expert when it comes to knowing what makes hair grow, nails strong, cholesterol low, and  heart strong. You name it, and he knows the cure. He has been studying this stuff for over 40 years.

“Well, what have you been eating lately and what supplements are you taking?” He asked.

“Well,  for the last three months my breakfast has consisted of gluten free pancakes combined with sunflower seeds, flax seeds, chia seeds, cinnamon and ginger.” I explained.

I continued. “My daily supplement routine consists of  Vitamin B12,    Omega-3, Multi-Vitamins, L-tyrosine, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, Calcium, Magnesium, and Choline & Inositol.  When I’m feeling anxious, I take Gabatrol or ZenX.”

Without hesitating he explained, “That’s easy, it’s from the natural supplements choline & inositol, omega-3, and the B vitamins you’re taking.  The natural supplements combined with the sunflower, chia and flax seeds  result in hair growth.”

He continued. “Choline speeds up hair growth. The sunflower seeds contain B vitamins, zinc, vitamin E and are rich in biotin.”

“The B Vitamins are specific for hair thickness and growth. Biotin strengthens hair and nails.  In addition, they assist in reversing hair loss.” He added.

“You know,” he clarified, “the B vitamins, biotin, zinc and vitamin E in the sunflower seeds combined with the omega-3 in the flax seeds and chia seeds, make a great combination for hair thickness and growth!”

“Oh yea!” He said with a sheepish grin. “Did I mention it’s good for your skin too? I thought you were looking a lot younger lately!”

With a giddy smile I remarked, “Oh, you smooth talker.”

It’s true my hair is thicker and my bald spot is gone. My nails are growing like crazy and they don’t split or break anymore.

I have been taking my supplements consistently and eating very natural food now for about six months. I am just trying to be healthier and trying to control my anxiety. I wasn’t expecting all of these other benefits.

As I discover positive changes in my body from taking natural supplements and from eating a more natural diet, I will share them with you. Hopefully, sharing my experiences will help you too!
